IH009- WHY WE IS BETTER THAN ME

Today’s society is plagued by ‘me-ness.’ Humans tend to look at everything through our own lens. We use it as a protective device, a subconscious capacity that we all use to deflect responsibility and blame, to soothe our egos and ensure our self-worth is maintained while avoiding things we do not want to do or projects we do not want to take on. But - what would happen if we changed the context from ‘me’ to ‘we?’

How would adopting the ‘we’ concept improve our society for future generations?

Today, I discuss the difference between the ‘me’ and ‘we’ contexts and explain why ‘we’ is better than ‘me.’ I highlight some of the areas in our everyday life where we are falling back on the human instinct to put ‘me’ before ‘we’ and how it is impacting our society on a global scale. I discuss the connection between ‘me-ness’ to our desire to soothe our egos and confirm our beliefs and perspectives are correct. I discuss the importance of identifying when ‘me-ness’ trumps ‘we-ness’ and how it can lead to feelings of guilt and remorse. I also explain why it is critically important to recognize that many of today’s national and global obstacles are ‘we’ challenges - not ‘me’ challenges - and how banding together through these challenges is the key to finding sustainable solutions.

‘Me-ness is fundamentally an ego-centric proposition.” -
