IH030 - The Humanity of Sound with Julian Treasure

Julian Treasure is a sound and communications expert and the Founder and Chairman of the audio branding company, The Sound Agency, which has developed Moodsonic technology for improving wellbeing and productivity in the healthcare, education, and hospitality spaces. Julian is a five-time TED talks speaker, an international keynote speaker, and the author of Sound Business and How to be Heard: Secrets for Powerful Speaking and Listening. He has been featured in TIME Magazine, The Times, and The Economist and appeared on international TV and radio. Julian is also a musician, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and holds a BA with Honors in Economics from Gonville & Caius College and the University of Cambridge.

Julian joins me today to share the importance of listening and the humanity of sound. He reveals how people tend to have a bias towards speaking rather than listening and its effects on brands and society. He discusses how you can develop better listening skills through his RUSA exercise and how you can conduct a sound audit in your home. He reveals how you can hold an audience's attention through variation, variety, and silent pauses. He also shares details on Moodsonic technology and how sound fundamentally affects people's mood, emotions, physiology, and behavior.

“The rewards of being a great listener are enormous.” - Julian Treasure
