IH040 - Capturing a Soul with Blake Ezra

Blake Ezra is a self-taught photographer, the Founder of Blake Ezra Photographer, and creator of his one-person show HUMAN. During his career, Blake has photographed the UK’s Royal Family, Prime Ministers, and A-listers, with his work appearing in publications such as The Financial Times, Take A Break, and The Daily Mail. Blake has a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and is a published writer who was presented to Her Majesty the Queen at St. James’ Palace in recognition of his contribution to community causes. He is a father of three boys and believes that empathy is an essential trait for photographers to capture emotive images that channel the feelings of those around them.

Blake joins me today to discuss the soul and humanity behind his photography, career, and life. He shares how self-learning and courage fueled his early work opportunities and progression. Blake highlights the value in reflecting on your life’s pivotal moments and discovering that they may not be the ones you thought they would be. He shares how the coronavirus has alleviated the pull for many people and why this is the time to push forward, do the things you want, find help from others and create momentum. Blake also shares how he decided to start his one-person show HUMAN and embrace writing.

“We need to be brave and be strong and be courageous and move in the direction we want and out of aspiration - and not necessarily only when desperation hits us.” - Blake Ezra
